What is London Broil?

If this is the first time you have heard of London broil, you’ll probably think of it as a piece of meat or a steak recipe. This might come as a surprise to you, but this pot is both. The London broil is a type of dish that is capable of tenderizing lean meats and even tough cuts. It would marinate the meat first and broil it afterward or cook it at a high temperature.

If you’ve gone to the meat section lately, you’ll probably come across those “London broil” cuts of meat. Of these, the flank steak is the most popular. From the name itself, this piece of meat is derived from the flank of a cow. Some of the London broil cuts that you’ll find consist of top blade steak as well as top round steak.

The London broil recipe or those steaks prepared through instant pot cooker will take care of the London broil’s high heat component, whether you are cooking flank steak or some other types of lean meat. Similarly, it’s possible to slather the steak with the traditional marinade recipe before you begin cooking the instant pot steak.

THERE’S A TYPE OF LONDON BROIL MARINADE RECIPE THAT REQUIRES THE FOLLOWING INGREDIENTS:

  • 3 parts balsamic vinegar
  • 3 parts lemon juice
  • 4 parts low sodium soy sauce
  • A drizzle of Worcestershire Sauce
  • A spoonful of olive oil

After mixing the ingredients above, add a small amount of chopped shallots, peeled garlic cloves, oregano, and thyme.

How to Prepare London Broil with a Pressure Cooker

To find out the proper cooking time of your steak using the instant pot or another similar cooking device, it is best to refer to recipe booklets and carefully read the instructions that come with the electric pressure cooker.

Servings: 4 | Prep Time: 15 mins | Cooking Time: 40 mins | Total Time: 55 mins

Usually, the settings will vary depending on the type of cooking appliance you will use.

  1. Prepare the marinade. You can use the recipe above for your reference. If you’ve got your own favorite recipe for marinade, then feel free to use it.
  2. Place the marinade you’ve prepared into a bowl and then arrange London broil(2 lb.) cut into the bowl with the marinade.
  3. Turn the meat over to ensure that it’s fully coated with the marinade. Cover and place in the fridge overnight.
  4. Take the steak out of the bowl with marinade.
  5. Cut the meat in half and place it into the pressure cooker.
  6. Set the pressure cooker to “browning” or “sauté”.
  7. Coat the bottom of the pressure cooker with a generous amount of oil.
  8. Place the steak in the pressure cooker. Brown the steak quickly. Use a pair of tongs to turn them over.
  9. Press the cancel button and place the lid of the cooker to cover. Make sure that the vent is fully closed.
  10. Use the Manual setting. Depending on the type of pressure cooker you’re using, you might have to choose a different designation, so follow the instructions very carefully.
  11. Set the cooker to cook according to the instructions set by the manufacturer. The cooking time for the Instant Pot is usually 20 minutes for every lb. of steak at 12 “pounds per square inch” or around 15 minutes for every lb. of steak at 15 “pounds per square inch.” It’s worth noting that if the psi is high, the temperature inside the cooker is high as well.
  12. After the proper cooking time is achieved, press the cooker’s quick-release function.
  13. If you believe that the London broil has already been adequately cooked, remove it from the cooker and place it in a platter.
  14. Let it sit for a while to keep the steak moist.
